The spring breeze is vigorous and brimming with vitality. On March 19, at the 2023 (15th) China Pharmaceutical Strategy Conference, the list of “China’s Innovative Pharmaceutical Enterprises 2022” was solemnly unveiled, and Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was proudly included on the list.
The data used for compiling the ranking of China’s innovative pharmaceutical companies are primarily sourced from the “China Pharmaceutical Statistics Annual Report,” the “China New Drug R&D Monitoring Database,” and the “Comprehensive Drug Database.” The conference’s evaluation panel assessed pharmaceutical companies comprehensively and rigorously across several dimensions, including characteristics, dimensions, driving forces, operations, and strategy. This assessment aims to vividly and intuitively showcase the policy framework and development model of the innovative pharmaceutical industry, as well as the spirit and demeanor of innovative pharmaceutical enterprises under these frameworks. By doing so, the panel seeks to set benchmarks and make meaningful contributions to further promoting the development of China’s innovative pharmaceutical industry.
In recent years, Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical has been driven by innovation, boldly tackling key “bottleneck” technologies. The company has strategically positioned itself in fields such as antiviral, antibacterial, antitumor, nervous system, cardiovascular, digestive, and anesthetic therapies, and is comprehensively advancing the development and research of generic drugs, innovative drugs, specialty active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical packaging materials, and products undergoing consistency evaluations. In particular, over the past two years, leveraging a comprehensive package of supportive policies from national, provincial, and municipal authorities, Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical has continuously increased its R&D investment. Relying on high-level innovation platforms such as the enterprise technology center recognized by five national agencies and the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory, the company has teamed up with renowned universities and research institutes—including China Pharmaceutical University, Zhengzhou University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences—to bring together leading pharmaceutical experts and academic pioneers from both home and abroad. Together, they have established an innovation consortium led by the company, supported by universities and research institutions, and featuring synergistic collaboration among all relevant innovation players. This collaborative model continually helps the company build new competitive advantages, shape new industry patterns, and create fresh opportunities for dynamic industrial growth. In 2022, Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical ranked among the leaders in China’s industry in terms of the number of approved and filed specialty generic drugs. Currently, the company has nearly 200 projects under development, covering innovative drugs, high-end complex formulations, and specialty generic drugs, with over 100 new products awaiting approval. This robust innovation pipeline continues to empower the company to move toward the mid-to-high end of the value chain.
It is reported that this year’s China Pharmaceutical Strategy Conference, themed “Innovation, Strengthening the Industrial Chain, and Driving Innovation,” is jointly hosted by the China Pharmaceutical Industry Information Center and the Management Committee of Shijiazhuang High-tech Zone, with guidance from the Youth Working Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association, the China National Institute of Pharmaceutical Industry Research, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Hebei Province, and the People’s Government of Shijiazhuang City. Co-organizers include Shijiazhuang Siyao Co., Ltd. The conference takes a comprehensive, multi-perspective approach to focusing on future development and transformative opportunities across all sectors of the pharmaceutical industry, further implementing the “Healthy China 2030” strategy. It brings together leaders from government regulatory agencies, top experts and scholars, senior corporate executives, industry association representatives, and other industry stakeholders, fostering the convergence and flow of innovation resources within the sector, enhancing collaborative innovation along the industrial chain, and elevating the overall level of industrial development, thereby promoting high-quality growth of China’s pharmaceutical industry.
