With the rampant spread of the coronavirus, the entire population is working tirelessly to stem its advance. Over the past few days, from the “sentinels” at the gates of employee dormitories to the “sprayers” patrolling office areas and staff quarters, and even the “aunties” providing logistical support in observation and isolation rooms—20 dedicated and busy members of the Shijiazhuang Siyao Property Management Department have woven a series of robust safety barriers, ensuring that employees can focus on their work and lives with peace of mind.

Body temperature checks—safeguarding the first line of defense.

At 7 a.m., as the number of people entering and leaving the staff apartments gradually increased, the security personnel from the property management department of Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Company also began their busy new day’s work.

Zhai Yafeng, who was on the early shift, arrived at his post well in advance to conduct temperature checks and register every person entering the dormitory. “The staff dormitory environment is relatively enclosed, so strictly controlling access to the dormitory is crucial. Even a slight oversight could lead to a severely serious case of cross-infection,” said Zhai Yafeng. To ensure the health and safety of employees living in the dormitory, the property management department has arranged two shifts of duty staff, providing round-the-clock coverage—every entry and every person is thoroughly checked. Any suspected cases must be promptly reported without fail, leaving no room for even the slightest omission.

“Over the course of this day, we had to raise our infrared thermometers more than 2,000 times—and sometimes we were so busy that we didn’t even have time to take a sip of water.” During this Spring Festival holiday, he and his colleagues gave up the chance to reunite with their families and have been steadfastly holding their ground here—from New Year’s Eve until now. “As long as we can ensure the health and safety of our employees, it’s worth any amount of hard work,” said Zhai Yafeng.

Strict disinfection to ensure a pollution-free office and living environment.

During this special period of epidemic prevention and control, in addition to carrying out their daily property management tasks—such as security and cleaning—the property management department has also taken on the responsibility of disinfecting office areas and dormitory environments, resulting in a workload that has more than doubled.

Every day at 3 p.m., you can always spot figures in protective suits, wearing masks and carrying sprayers, going around to disinfect every corner of the Shimen Building. Wang Yuwei is one of them. Together with his colleagues, Wang Yuwei makes sure to thoroughly disinfect every nook and cranny of the over 10,000-square-meter administrative office area and staff dormitories on time, every single day.

Carrying a sprayer weighing over 20 jin, he disinfects floor by floor, coordinating his hand and leg movements. After just a short while on the job, he’s already drenched in sweat, and his clothes are soaked with disinfectant. His colleagues jokingly call him “a walking disinfectant,” and he laughs in response, saying, “As long as I can help keep everyone safe, I’m happy to be this ‘disinfectant’ myself.”

Logistics are well-guaranteed, and heartfelt service warms people’s hearts.

To effectively safeguard the lives and health of our employees, the Property Management Department of Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Company provides heartfelt care and support to employees with special circumstances, while ensuring they undergo strict isolation and observation as required.

To ensure the well-being of employees temporarily in isolation, the Property Management Department has developed a detailed “Daily Schedule for Isolated Individuals,” meticulously outlining specific times for meal delivery, temperature checks, hot-water service, garbage collection, and room disinfection. In addition, the dormitory supervisors—“aunties”—have adopted a positive and optimistic attitude to help stabilize everyone’s emotions, offering them moral encouragement and comfort.

At 8 a.m. on February 10, Ren Gaoyang, who was taking the temperature of employees under quarantine and observation, suddenly received an urgent call from his family informing him that his mother was feeling unwell. He hurried home, quickly dialed 120 to take his mother to the hospital, and after making sure she was safely handed over to her family’s care, immediately returned to his work post. “During this special period of epidemic prevention and control, when people are needed most, I’m both a veteran and a Party member—so at a critical moment, I simply can’t afford to fall behind,” said Ren Gaoyang.
