The compounding stage is the first step in the production of oral dosage forms. As soon as they received the task to resume production, Zhao Shifeng, a staff member in the compounding position, along with two other colleagues, have been working tirelessly to ramp up the production of Abidol capsules in the workshop. On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Master Zhao started his day early in the morning and kept busy until 2 a.m. the next day before finally returning home. “The Abidol capsule production task is pressing,” he said. “If we fall behind, it’ll affect the entire workshop’s output—and even if it means working overtime, we’ve got to get the job done.”

Although it may seem simple, covering every single person without missing a single one is no small task, especially for a large workshop with more than 800 employees.” Starting from the first day of the Lunar New Year, she and her colleagues have been using the team’s QQ group to clearly explain the importance of the situation and patiently and meticulously gather information on each employee’s and their family’s health status, reporting this data to the company’s Human Resources Department on a regular basis. “In the face of a major epidemic, both epidemic prevention and production are equally important—and neither can be taken lightly.”

Zhao Hao and his colleagues remain steadfastly at their guard posts, conducting temperature screenings on thousands of people entering and leaving the premises each day. “We conduct temperature checks on every single person who enters the factory grounds—every hour of every day, checking everyone who comes in and every vehicle that arrives—playing the role of the enterprise’s ‘moat’ in prevention and control.”

Ma Xiongwei, a security guard from the Property Management Department of Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical, is conducting environmental disinfection at the staff dormitory.

During this special period of epidemic prevention and control, the security personnel from the property management department of Shijiazhuang No. 4 Pharmaceutical Company have once again taken on the crucial tasks of health monitoring and registration for people entering and leaving the company’s office areas and single-person apartments, as well as environmental disinfection. These days, Ma Xiongwei and his colleagues have been carrying dozens of pounds of disinfectant tanks on their backs every day, meticulously disinfecting each floor layer by layer, spraying continuously all along the way—with their hands and legs never stopping. He said, “One person’s hard work ensures everyone’s safety—so even though it’s a bit tiring, it’s all worth it.”

Jin Zhao, a sales representative in the procurement department of Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical, urges suppliers daily to ensure the supply of production materials.

With the full-scale launch of the emergency pharmaceutical production line on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control, “ensuring the timely supply of raw materials for preventive products has become a heavy responsibility.” Since New Year’s Eve, Jin Zhao from the Procurement Department of Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical has been tirelessly at his post, communicating and coordinating with active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturers day after day—doing everything possible to secure the urgently needed production materials. “Every day, I have to contact intermediate suppliers no fewer than 20 times. As the saying goes, ‘Before the troops move, the supplies must go first.’ We can’t afford to let insufficient supplies delay the critical task of epidemic prevention and control production.”

Su Xuejun, Chairman of Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, said: “At this critical juncture in winning the battle against the epidemic, more than 2,300 employees have been fighting on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control production, putting the greater good before their own interests. They’ve stepped out of their small families and bravely moved against the tide, spending an extraordinary Spring Festival at their workplaces—each small act embodying great human compassion and highlighting the sense of responsibility and commitment of pharmaceutical professionals.”

During the Spring Festival, Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical’s production lines for key epidemic prevention and control drugs were operating at full capacity. The daily output of the antiviral drug abidol hydrochloride capsules reached 900,000 tablets, and over 20,000 bottles (or buckets) of the new-concept composite quaternary ammonium salt disinfectant were produced, providing strong support for epidemic prevention and control efforts.
