Zhao Shifeng, a formulation worker in the oral dosage form workshop of the High-tech Zone, is 38 years old and has 8 years of experience at the factory.

The formulation stage is the first step in the production of oral dosage forms. During this year’s Spring Festival, Master Zhao Shifeng and two other colleagues have been busy working around the clock to expand the production of Arbidol capsules in the workshop. On the 29th day of the 12th lunar month, Master Zhao started his day at just after 7 a.m. and kept working until 2 a.m. the next day before finally returning home. “The Arbidol capsule production task is pressing,” he said. “If we fall behind, it’ll affect the entire workshop’s output—and even if it means working overtime, we’ve got to get the job done.”

Zhang Mengli, 28, Team Leader of the Aluminum-Plastic Packaging Unit in the Oral Dosage Form Workshop of the High-Tech Zone, with 7 years of experience at the factory.

Even before the Spring Festival, she had been working consecutive shifts for several days straight. In recent days, due to the high demand for Abidol capsules, the workload at the aluminum-plastic packaging station has significantly increased compared to usual. “As the Spring Festival approaches, the production tasks are heavy, and I can’t help with anything at home,” she said. “To fight the epidemic, as long as the workshop needs me, I’ll be ready to work the middle shift at any time.”

Han Huijuan, 38, shift supervisor for sub-packaging and inner packaging in the oral dosage form workshop of the High-tech Zone, with 18 years of experience at the factory.

Han Huijuan is a soon-to-be mom. On the 30th day of the 12th lunar month, eight months pregnant, she worked from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m., completing that day’s production tasks. She said, “My husband and I are both employees at Siyao—‘We make medicine to save lives; the more we produce, the greater the assurance of health for everyone. It’s nothing for young people to put in a little extra effort.’”

Zhao Yafeng, 43, shift supervisor for outsourced packaging in the oral dosage form workshop of the High-tech Zone, has 17 years of experience at the factory.

Since the beginning of the year, production tasks have become increasingly demanding, and the workshop has started operating on a shift system. After finishing her day’s work, she still needs to arrange the mid-shift schedule before she can head home. Often, when problems arise during the midnight shift, staff members on duty still have to call or video-chat with her via WeChat to get them resolved. “As the team leader, I must devote myself wholeheartedly to my work in order to earn everyone’s trust.”

Disinfectant, oral liquid, and traditional Chinese medicine extraction technician Gu Yongjun, 34 years old, with 11 years of experience in the factory.

On the first day of the lunar new year, he received a call informing him that he needed to return to work and stay late to produce disinfectant. Upon hearing the news, he immediately took a taxi from his hometown in Luquan back to the company—and together with the management personnel who had come to assist with production, they successfully produced the first batch of finished products.
