On January 18, the National Healthcare Security Administration released the results of the adjustment to the National Reimbursement Drug List and the new version of the list. After this adjustment, the “National Basic Medical Insurance, Work Injury Insurance, and Maternity Insurance Drug List (2022)” now includes a total of 2,967 drugs, of which 1,586 are Western medicines and 1,381 are traditional Chinese medicines. Shijiazhuang Four Pharmaceutical Group has a total of 96 products included in the National Basic Drug List.
It is reported that Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Group’s new product, Lacosamide Injection (20 ml: 0.2 g), has been included for the first time in the negotiated drugs section of the National Essential Medicines List during the agreed period. Meanwhile, the new product Brotizolam Tablets has been added to the regular Western medicine section. Lacosamide Injection is primarily used for the adjunctive treatment of partial-onset seizures in patients with epilepsy; Brotizolam Tablets are mainly indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia. Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical is the first domestic pharmaceutical company to obtain a production registration approval for Brotizolam Tablets.
It is reported that in this adjustment of the National Essential Medicines List, a total of 111 drugs have been newly added, while 3 drugs have been removed. Among the 121 drugs that underwent negotiations or bidding, 82.3% were successfully included, marking a new high in previous years. The average price reduction for the drugs newly approved through negotiations and bidding reached 60.1%. This adjustment is expected to relieve patients of more than 90 billion yuan in expenses over the next two years.
For three consecutive years, the National Healthcare Security Administration has made COVID-19 treatment drugs a prerequisite for inclusion in the national medical insurance drug list. Two drugs—Azvudine tablets and Qingfei Paidu Granules—have been officially added to the national medical insurance drug list following price reductions through negotiation. Among the 25 already-marketed drugs covered by the 10th Edition of the COVID-19 Diagnosis and Treatment Protocol, 21 varieties have now been formally included in the national medical insurance drug list.
Since its establishment in 2018, the National Healthcare Security Administration has conducted annual adjustments to the National Reimbursement Drug List for five consecutive years, adding a total of 618 drugs to the national medical insurance coverage. At the same time, a number of drugs with uncertain efficacy, those prone to clinical overuse, or those already obsolete have been removed from the list, thereby driving profound changes in drug usage patterns. Over the past seven rounds of nationally organized centralized bulk procurement of drugs, the average price reduction for selected drugs has exceeded 50%. Meanwhile, the pace at which innovative drugs are included in the medical insurance system has significantly accelerated, leading to a marked decline in prices of commonly used medications and a substantial improvement in the level of drug coverage for serious illnesses and special patient groups, thus significantly reducing the financial burden on patients.
