The Aynoda® Abidol Hydrochloride Capsules, developed and produced by Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical, have been recognized by the conference as a landmark achievement in China’s pharmaceutical technology during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, owing to their outstanding market and clinical performance.

In the southern gem city of Guangzhou during the Great Snow solar term, the gentle breeze blows pleasantly, and the scenery is truly delightful. On the evening of December 8, the Guangzhou Sunac Wanda Convention Center sparkled with brilliant lights and buzzed with an enthusiastic atmosphere. Here, the award ceremony for the “13th Five-Year Plan” Chinese Pharmaceutical Industry Achievements—organized jointly by the Pharmaceutical Economic Report and the Organizing Committee of the 2020 National Pharmaceutical Economic Information Conference & Mifanghui Annual Meeting—was held in full swing. Among the honorees, AinoDa® Abidor Hydrochloride Capsules, developed and produced by Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical, were recognized as a landmark achievement of China’s pharmaceutical technology during the “13th Five-Year Plan” due to their outstanding market performance and clinical efficacy.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, China’s pharmaceutical economy has flourished, its scientific and technological strength has continued to grow, its independent innovation capabilities have steadily improved, and its research achievements have attracted worldwide attention. In the concluding year of the 13th Five-Year Plan, the Pharmaceutical Economy Report, together with the Organizing Committee of the 2020 National Pharmaceutical Economic Information Conference and the Mifanghui Annual Meeting, proudly launched the “13th Five-Year Plan” China Pharmaceutical Science and Technology Landmark Achievements event. This initiative aims to summarize the scientific and technological achievements made by China’s pharmaceutical industry during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, facilitate the commercialization of pharmaceutical innovations, and accelerate China’s transition from a major pharmaceutical producer to a powerful pharmaceutical nation. The event was selected through a comprehensive evaluation conducted by industry experts, who identified landmark product brands that demonstrated outstanding performance in dimensions such as technological innovation, clinical efficacy, market share, and industry influence during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical is one of the earliest pharmaceutical companies in China to develop the drug Arbidol. Arbidol is an antiviral medication primarily used to treat upper respiratory tract infections caused by influenza viruses of types A and B, and it exhibits broad-spectrum antiviral activity. The drug mainly works by inhibiting the fusion of the viral envelope with the host cell membrane, thereby blocking the initial step of viral infection. In addition, Arbidol can induce the body to produce endogenous interferon, which not only suppresses viral replication but also modulates and enhances the body’s immune function, giving it multiple mechanisms for combating viruses. As early as 2010, Arbidol was included in the “Diagnostic and Treatment Protocol for Influenza A H1N1 (2010)” issued by the former Ministry of Health. Moreover, both the Respiratory Disease Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and the Pediatrics Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, in their jointly published “Chinese Expert Consensus on Antiviral Drug Therapy and Prevention for Influenza (2016),” as well as the Respiratory Physicians Branch of the Chinese Physicians Association in its 2016 “Expert Consensus on the Rational Use of Antiviral Drugs for Influenza,” recommended Arbidol as a commonly used antiviral drug for influenza. In 2019, the product was listed in the 2019 Revised National Basic Medical Insurance Catalogue—Category B—and in the list of clinically recommended antiviral drugs for influenza released by the National Health Commission. On November 5, 2020, it was once again included in the “Influenza Diagnosis and Treatment Protocol (2020 Edition)” issued by the National Health Commission. During the pandemic, Arbidol was listed by the National Health Commission as a recommended drug in the “Diagnosis and Treatment Protocols for Pneumonia Caused by Novel Coronavirus Infection (6th, 7th, and 8th Editions).” Furthermore, many provinces and cities across China have added it to their reserves of medicines for COVID-19 prevention and control.
Since its launch, Aynoda® Abidol Hydrochloride Capsules, manufactured by Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical, have been highly favored by the market and are now available in both domestic and international markets. Earlier this year, Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical urgently provided emergency support and donations—including Abidol Hydrochloride Capsules and Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride Sodium Injection—of antibacterial and antiviral drugs to Wuhan, Hubei Province, and the Shennongjia Forestry District. These efforts played a positive role in the current epidemic prevention and control efforts and earned praise in letters from the Medical Supplies Guarantee Group of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism under the State Council for the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic, as well as from relevant local Party committees and governments.
