Shi Si Yao: Digital Technology Safeguards Product Quality

Large-volume injections are commonly referred to as large infusions. The quality and safety of large-infusion products are directly linked to medication safety.
On August 25, the reporter visited Workshop 208 at Shisi Pharmaceutical. From the stage of preparing infusion water to the automated logistics and distribution process, the reporter gained a deep understanding of the powerful role digital technologies play in enhancing production efficiency and improving product quality.
Improving quality, safety, and efficiency is inseparable from investment. In recent years, Shisi Pharmaceutical has invested a total of 3 billion yuan in implementing eight major technological upgrade projects. These projects have introduced advanced automated equipment, including fully automatic powder conveying systems, thermal-pressure distillation water machines, one-step bottle-making machines, and automatic light inspection machines, significantly enhancing the automation and intelligence levels of its large-volume parenteral solutions production workshops.
Shi Si Pharmaceutical utilizes a fully automated logistics distribution center that is seamlessly integrated with its production lines, enabling fully automated inbound and outbound operations. Within this automated logistics distribution center—comprising towering, densely packed shelving and automated stacker cranes—on an area of 6,000 square meters and handling a turnover of over 20 million bottles of intravenous solutions, only seven employees are needed to operate across three shifts.
Digital technologies are also being fully leveraged in product quality traceability. Liu Miao said that Shisi Pharmaceutical has adopted an intelligent information management system that ensures product quality is both traceable and auditable. For each bottle of intravenous solution, the system clearly records where the raw materials originated, who performed each production step, and who conducted the inspections. “This means that every single product currently on the market can be clearly traced back to the exact date it was produced, the specific production line it came from, and the particular order through which it was made.”
