To recognize the outstanding contributions of young people to economic and social development, showcase the spirit and values of youth in the new era, and inspire team organizations at all levels across the district as well as the broad ranks of League members and young people to carry forward the May Fourth Spirit and courageously shoulder their historical responsibilities, on April 29, the Office of the Communist Youth League Committee of Gaocheng District, Shijiazhuang City, issued the “Decision on the May Fourth Commendations.” Among those honored, the volunteer vanguard team from Workshop 102, which provided support for the production of anti-epidemic drugs, was awarded the title of “Outstanding Youth Volunteer Collective”; Ji Rongxin was awarded the title of “Young Skilled Worker”; and Ma Nannan was awarded the title of “Outstanding Youth League Worker.”
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has plunged people’s peaceful lives into turmoil, like a giant boulder dropped into a calm lake. Faced with the urgent demand for medications on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control, Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Company immediately joined this war without smoke of battle, overcoming all kinds of difficulties and working overtime to produce antiviral drugs and disinfection and epidemic-control supplies. The company also urgently dispatched these supplies to support the frontline efforts in Hubei and other regions battling the epidemic.
Due to the outbreak occurring around the Spring Festival, enterprises faced numerous challenges—including difficulties in staffing, transportation capacity, and the procurement of raw and auxiliary materials. Yet, as the epidemic is an urgent call, ensuring supply is a solemn responsibility. The company had no choice but to overcome all obstacles and go all out in production to guarantee the availability of essential supplies. It was precisely at this critical moment that a volunteer “vanguard team” stepped forward—members from different workshops and holding various positions, yet united by a shared goal: to rally at Workshop 102 for oral preparations. After receiving the company’s urgent assignment to produce drugs for epidemic prevention and control, they volunteered without hesitation, resolutely stepping into the frontline of production. Among them were newly hired employees who had just started their careers, as well as young mothers with small children. Regardless of their usual roles, at this crucial time, they all transformed into valiant “warriors,” dedicating themselves wholeheartedly to the battle of producing anti-epidemic drugs and disinfectant products, sparing no effort to make their due contribution to winning the fight against the pandemic.
Since late January, this volunteer vanguard team has been constantly moving back and forth along the production line in Workshop 102—wherever there’s a challenge, there you’ll find them. “Thanks to this vanguard team, we’ve been able to complete our support tasks on time, with both quality and quantity assured,” said Rong Yanyan, director of Workshop 102, visibly moved. As of the end of March, thanks to the concerted efforts of all employees at Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., the company had cumulatively dispatched more than 20 truckloads of emergency medicines to Wuhan, Hubei Province. Among these shipments, 3.962 million capsules of Abidol hydrochloride were urgently transported to Hubei, along with over 500,000 bottles (bags) of intravenous solutions such as moxifloxacin hydrochloride sodium injection. In addition, the company donated emergency rescue medicines worth 2.57 million yuan to Wuhan, Hubei Province, and the Shennongjia Forestry District, among other areas. The company has successfully fulfilled its national emergency drug supply mission, making a significant contribution to achieving dual victories in epidemic prevention and control as well as economic and social development.
Ji Rongxin, a 2012 graduate of the postgraduate program, came to Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical to begin her career. On her very first day at work, she immediately immersed herself in the production floor, taking up a position in the ingredient preparation section. With a work ethic characterized by diligence, eagerness to ask questions, meticulous note-taking, and thoughtful reflection, she diligently studied production processes and operational methods. Over the course of seven years, Ji Rongxin steadily advanced step by step—from a frontline production worker to a workshop supervisor.
After taking on the role of workshop director, Ji Rongxin realized that she was leading a team of nearly 300 people with varying levels of knowledge and competence. She soon discovered that simply possessing strong technical skills and excellent quality management was far from sufficient—she also needed solid managerial abilities. Thus, while familiarizing herself with the personnel in each position within the workshop, she secretly began to study various management principles. After a period of exploration and trial-and-error, she refined the workshop’s assessment system, ensuring clear distinctions between rewards and punishments while combining firmness with kindness. As a result, the workshop’s atmosphere has been transformed into one that is positive and highly motivated. Currently, the workshop she leads consistently ranks among the top performers in all technical indicator evaluations.
In addition to managing the workshop effectively, Ji Rongxin is also a skilled innovator. He has actively engaged in technological upgrades and innovations aimed at addressing key technical bottlenecks in areas such as cost reduction, energy conservation and emission reduction, safe production, and operational efficiency. As a result, he has overcome one technical challenge after another. In recent years, Ji Rongxin has put forward a total of 53 rationalization proposals and small-scale improvement projects, directly generating value for the company amounting to over 200,000 yuan.
“I feel deeply honored to be recognized as an outstanding Youth League worker. This is not only a badge of honor but also a source of motivation.” On Ma Nan-nan’s desk, several used-up notebooks stood out conspicuously. They were filled with meticulous study notes. Although the notebooks had turned slightly yellow, the handwriting inside remained remarkably clear.
In the eyes of her colleagues, Ma NanNan is a true “workaholic”—she never shies away from any task and insists on finishing all her daily assignments before heading home. She always harbors deep affection for the employees and staff, approaching every issue and undertaking with the sole intention of wholeheartedly safeguarding their interests. With her words and actions, as well as her sincere heart, she helps employees feel the warmth of the Siyao family.
To inspire the work enthusiasm of young League members and youth, and in light of the specific characteristics of the company’s operations, Ma Nan Nan, under the leadership and support of the Party Committee and the trade union, has actively organized a wide range of cultural and sports activities for young workers: organizing social gatherings and matchmaking events for young single employees; proactively establishing innovation studios to ignite employees’ passion for innovation and help the company achieve energy savings and reduce consumption; and annually holding year-end summary and evaluation activities at the end of each year, identifying role models and tapping into outstanding talents. At the same time, these various activities enhance the appeal and influence of the League organization, enabling it to serve as an effective assistant to the organization.
Ma Nannan, who has been engaged in youth league work for five years, has always held herself to strict standards, approaching her tasks with a spirit of initiative, a pragmatic style, and a willingness to explore and forge ahead. With meticulous attention to detail and professional expertise, she has steadily contributed to the cause of youth league work and has gradually become a seasoned expert in enterprise-level youth league management through continuous practice.
