“Mr. Zhu, Leishen Mountain Hospital started admitting patients last night, and the 3,000 boxes of Arbidol we delivered to the hospital have already arrived. Please rest assured,” said the head of a pharmaceutical company in Wuhan early on February 9, calling Zhu Zhiyong, the deputy general manager in charge of new product sales at Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., to update him on the situation. This marks the first time that Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical has supplied 3,000 boxes—totaling 72,000 capsules—of abidol hydrochloride capsules to both Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishen Mountain Hospital in Wuhan for clinical antiviral treatment.
In late January of this year, medical institutions and state-owned pharmaceutical companies in Wuhan, Hubei Province, and other regions contacted Shisi Pharmaceutical, requesting assistance in supplying antiviral Arbidol capsules and antibacterial intravenous solutions such as moxifloxacin hydrochloride sodium injection.

“What the frontline of prevention and control needs, that’s exactly what we’ll do our utmost to provide—overcoming every single difficulty and going to great lengths to ensure the supply of key pharmaceuticals for epidemic prevention and control. It’s our responsibility and mission as pharmaceutical manufacturers to wholeheartedly support the nation’s overall epidemic response,” said Su Xuejun, Chairman of Shisi Pharmaceutical.

The epidemic is an order, and ensuring supply is our responsibility. Upon receiving the call to action, Shisi Pharmaceutical swiftly adjusted its production and operational plans, making every possible effort to mobilize personnel and raw and auxiliary materials, and stepping up production of emergency medicines and products such as Abidol Hydrochloride Capsules, Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride Sodium Chloride Injection, Sterile Water, and Disinfectants. The oral dosage form production workshop—the Abidol Capsule production line—tasked with emergency supply assurance, is operating at full capacity, doing its utmost to guarantee clinical and market supplies in Hubei and other regions.
To secure raw material supplies for abidol through multiple channels and expand supply sources, Shisi Pharmaceutical urgently submitted a request to the Hebei Provincial Drug Administration to add additional API suppliers to its registration. The Hebei Provincial Drug Administration promptly established a “green channel” and provided full support to help the company scale up its formulation production. After the products passed inspection, Shisi Pharmaceutical’s supplementary application to add new API suppliers was approved at the earliest possible opportunity.

Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical has developed and is producing Abidor Hydrochloride capsules, an antiviral drug for influenza.

Since January 25—the first day of the Lunar New Year—Shi Si Pharmaceutical has cumulatively shipped 1.36 million capsules of the antiviral drug abidol hydrochloride to Hubei Province, including 960,000 capsules sent to Wuhan. Additionally, the company has delivered 268,000 bags of the antibacterial drug moxifloxacin hydrochloride sodium injection to Hubei Province, of which 230,000 bags were sent to Wuhan. Furthermore, 378,000 bags (bottles) of sterile water and basic infusion solutions have been supplied, effectively ensuring the adequate provision of medications for frontline efforts in combating and controlling the epidemic.
