September 25, 2022, marked the 14th World Pharmacists Day. Today, the launch ceremony of the World Pharmacists Day promotional campaign—under the theme “Pharmacists, Hello!”—and the inaugural Hebei Outstanding Pharmacist Awards Ceremony were held at Hebei Radio and Television Station, jointly organized by the Hebei Provincial Drug Administration and the Hebei Pharmaceutical Association.

September 25, 2022, marked the 14th World Pharmacists’ Day. Today, the launch ceremony of the World Pharmacists’ Day publicity campaign—hosted jointly by the Hebei Provincial Drug Administration and the Hebei Pharmaceutical Association and themed “Pharmacists, Hello!”—along with the first-ever Hebei Outstanding Pharmacist Awards Ceremony, was held at Hebei Radio and Television Station. Ding Jinxia, a member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference and President of the Hebei Pharmaceutical Association, and Wu Hongru, Deputy Minister of the Provincial Party Committee’s Publicity Department, Party Secretary and Director of Hebei Radio and Television Station, presented awards to four inaugural Hebei Outstanding Pharmacists, including Tang Jianhua from the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University and Yang Xian from Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical.

It is understood that World Pharmacists Day was established in 2009 at the initiative of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). The purpose of this day is to highlight the role pharmacists play in ensuring safe and rational drug use, leveraging the expertise of pharmacists to optimize medication regimens and reduce medication errors, thereby promoting the appropriate use of drugs and safeguarding public medication safety.

Ding Jinxia, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference and President of the Provincial Pharmaceutical Association; Wu Hongru, Deputy Director of the Provincial Party Committee’s Publicity Department, Party Secretary and Director of Hebei Radio and Television Station; Xu Yanzeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Provincial Administration for Market Regulation, as well as Party Secretary and Director of the Provincial Drug Administration; Jiang Dong, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Provincial Science and Technology Association; Wang Jianting, member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of Hebei Radio and Television Station; and the vice chairpersons of the Association—Wang Lianshui, Su Xuejun, and Liu Meng—as well as the deputy supervisors—Wang Yibing and Sun Yinyan—attended the launch ceremony. Representatives of pharmacists from medical institutions, pharmaceutical companies, research institutes, and universities across the province also participated in the event.

In his speech, Xu Yanzeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Provincial Administration for Market Regulation, as well as Party Secretary and Director of the Provincial Drug Administration, stated that thanks to pharmacists’ professional oversight in clinical settings, the public’s rational drug-use practices have been continuously improved. Moreover, with pharmacists’ meticulous and thoughtful pharmaceutical services, the medication safety of ordinary people has been more effectively safeguarded. Working quietly yet persistently—“drifting silently into the night, nourishing all things without a sound”—they have made silent yet invaluable contributions to our province’s pharmaceutical and health sector! The “Outstanding Pharmacist” and “Pharmacists Talk About Medicines” Outstanding Science Communication Video Selection Event, jointly organized by the Provincial Drug Administration and the Provincial Pharmaceutical Association, aims to further standardize pharmacist management in our province, inspire pharmacists across the province to devote themselves with greater enthusiasm to the noble cause of ensuring medication safety for the people, highlight the admirable social image of the pharmacy workforce’s quiet dedication, promote and guide pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors, and users to adopt standardized drug-use practices, ensure patient medication safety, and accelerate and enhance the development of our province’s pharmaceutical and health sector.

Since its launch in August, the first Hebei Outstanding Pharmacist Selection and the “Pharmacists Talk About Medicines” Science Video Contest have gone through several stages—including local nominations, media showcases, and public voting—resulting in the selection of the first four outstanding pharmacists in Hebei Province and eight outstanding science videos under the “Pharmacists Talk About Medicines” theme. The pharmacists honored with the title of Outstanding Pharmacist are: Tang Jianhua from the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University; Wang Moli from the Hebei Provincial Institute for Drug and Medical Device Inspection; Li Nan from Handan People’s Hospital; and Yang Xian from Shijiazhuang Sihua Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.

The event is organized by the Hebei Provincial Drug Administration and the Hebei Pharmaceutical Association, co-organized by Hebei Radio and Television Station, and guided by the Hebei Provincial Association for Science and Technology.
