Together with her colleagues, she’s been tasked with producing urgently needed medicines for the frontline of epidemic prevention and control in Hubei and other regions. The tens of millions of Arbidol capsules produced by their team have become a powerful weapon in the fight against COVID-19. “The Party Central Committee’s care for Wuhan and Hubei is also care for the entire nation and for us workers in the pharmaceutical industry. General Secretary Xi’s words will surely inspire us to keep up our efforts and forge ahead.”

General Secretary Xi emphasized the need to maximize the cure rate and minimize the mortality rate, and called for accelerating the promotion and application of effective drugs that have already been developed and screened, thereby enhancing the level of medical treatment. At this critical moment in the fight against the epidemic, General Secretary Xi’s remarks have greatly inspired us—scientific and technological workers who are at the forefront of research and development. Employees of the Shijiazhuang Fourth Pharmaceutical Drug Research Institute, who bear the important responsibility of driving corporate innovation, expressed their determination to leverage their professional expertise to step up research efforts and make every possible contribution to overcoming this epidemic. Recently, Dr. Sun Lijie, the institute’s director, has led his team to embark on the development of new antiviral drugs. At the same time, he has reorganized and adjusted ongoing research projects, accelerated the re-examination of antiviral and antibiotic drugs, and intensified work on bioequivalence evaluations of generic drugs. They are also conducting retrospective analyses of relevant medications to provide valuable clinical evidence for combating the epidemic.

During his inspection, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed that, while strengthening epidemic prevention and control measures, we should adopt differentiated strategies and, at an appropriate time, resume work and production in a phased, tiered, categorized, and time-specific manner, provided conditions permit. This guidance applies both to Wuhan, Hubei Province, and to the entire country.
